Do Good

All is silent, all is gloom Christ has died but what good did it do? A rumble, a call, an empty tomb. “I came and died, and have risen too.” Pain lay forgotten, death was left behind and fear cowered at the voice of God the Father calling out to his Son. “Your sacrifice was sufficient, your death acceptable, our wrath has been satisfied, now arise my victorious Righteousness and bring many sons to glory!”

And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:17-22

The other day I was popping pistachios like a boss when I ran across a complete, whole and perfect shell.. with no nut inside. It set me to thinking, how often do I look like this.. beautiful, complete, whole and mature on the outside, with no fruit or value on the inside where and when it really matters? I desire to look and do right without a true first love for Jesus.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. Matthew 23:23-28

I will lay waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their vegetation; I will turn the rivers into islands, and dry up the pools. And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them.

– Isaiah 42:15-16
